Terms of Service

Last updated July 16, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using BrainDrill (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. What BrainDrill is

BrainDrill is a study app for students: practice questions, an AI Tutor chat, notes, a calendar, document storage, study rooms, and a leaderboard. The AI Tutor is powered by Anthropic's Claude models and is designed to verify quantitative answers (e.g. circuit analysis, physics, multi-step math) by re-deriving them a second, independent way before presenting a final answer.

3. Accounts

You authenticate through our identity provider (Clerk). You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.

4. AI-generated content

The AI Tutor uses a large language model. Even with our verification process, it can still be wrong, especially on problems it misreads (e.g. a circuit diagram) or that fall outside its training. Treat its answers as a study aid, not as a substitute for your instructor, textbook, or your own judgment — especially on graded work or exams.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to violate your institution's academic integrity policies, to abuse, overload, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or security controls, or to upload content you don't have the right to share.

6. Usage limits

AI Tutor usage is metered on a rolling per-account budget to keep the Service sustainable. We may adjust these limits, and we'll reflect current usage in the product when we do.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you create or upload (notes, documents, chat messages, images). You grant us the rights needed to store, process, and display that content back to you in order to operate the Service, including sending it to the AI providers described in our Privacy Policy when needed to generate a response.

8. Pricing and payments

Paid plans (Student Pro and Premium) and one-time AI credit packs are published on our Pricing page and purchasable in the app. On the web and Android, payments are processed by Flutterwave (card, bank transfer, or mobile money). On iOS, purchases are made through Apple's In-App Purchase system, are additionally governed by Apple's terms, and are managed or cancelled through your Apple ID subscription settings.

Subscriptions run for the billing period you chose. If you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for and simply doesn't renew. The free tier remains usable subject to the usage limits above. If we change a plan or its price in a way that affects you, we'll give you notice first.

9. Termination and deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Doing so immediately and permanently deletes your profile, notes, calendar, quiz history, documents, study room data, and AI Tutor threads — including any uploaded attachments. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, BrainDrill is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on AI-generated content.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the date above when we do; continued use after a change means you accept the update.
